Guide: Suzanne Barrett

A note from Suzanne:

I was the About.com Guide for Ireland for Visitors from March of 1997 to September of 2001. My site was always in the top third of About sites and grew incrementally, offering travel news, itinerary recommendations, an active travel forum, book reviews and more.

I very much enjoyed my experience writing features, newsletters, discovering related web sites and presenting the best travel deals to Ireland. I knew dot.coms were struggling, nevertheless, I was shocked and disappointed when About cut the site as part of their taxonomy restructure in September of 2001. I was equally dismayed when they decided to send redirects to the UK for Visitors site. (99.9% of Irish travelers know the Irish Republic is not part of the United Kingdom!)

I am in the process of converting evergreen Ireland content and writing new features to help visitors enhance their online and realtime travel experiences.

All my former About content will soon live at a new site on the Web.
