How to get real-time stock quotes

There are lots of Web sites that give delayed stock quotes, but where do you go for real-time quotes?

Here's How:

  1. For real-time live quotes on U.S. stocks, go to Thomson Real Time Quotes or freerealtime.com (See links below.).
  2. Register at either or both of those sites. It's free.
  3. For free real-time Canadian quotes you are out of luck on general Internet sites, but there is an alternative.
  4. Open an account with an online broker and you will have access to real-time Canadian stock quotes.
  5. You will get a limited number of free quote requests. Each trade you make increases the number of free quotes you are allotted.
  6. Alternatively, you can pay for access to real-time Canadian quotes from most quote service providers. (See links below for more info.)
