| It took a while in coming since Rux
Resources announced its intention to acquire Galaxy
Internet in late August of 1999, but by the end of the
year, the acquisition and name change was completed. Galaxy Internet is an Indianapolis, Indiana based company providing Internet access via bi-directional satellite as well as by conventional land lines. Galaxy Internet International is its Toronto based Canadian and international affiliate providing similar services outside the U.S. The focus of the company is serving the niche rural market that is often neglected by conventional ISPs. It currently serves the Indianapolis area and three different area codes in Kentucky. On Feb. 7, 2000, the company announced the launch of its Canadian service for Toronto and the communities of Brampton, Mississauga, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Markham, Pickering, and Aurora. It also announced it was in the process of securing DSL lines for selected cities in Quebec and Ontario. The company is also looking at partnerships to resell rebranded services "Powered by Galaxy Internet". The first such partnership, with Ontario's Office Solutions Inc., was announced on Feb. 9th. It announced a similar deal with Motorsports USA on Feb. 17th. Motorsports USA is a 1/5 scale stock car racing club. The company is also into commercial website development through a partnership with Commercis. It operates virtual trade shows through eTradeshows.com. A sign that Galaxy Online is preparing to enter the major leagues was the appointment of Glen Kaiser, a former executive with AT&T, NCR, Bell South, Bell Labs, and Lucent Technologies, as President and Chief Operating Officer of the company. Kaiser was a key figure in the launch of AT&T's WorldNet National ISP services in 1996. In a year, he helped push WorldNet to become the second largest ISP in the U.S.. Kaiser also launched Electric Schoolhouse, an Internet resource for parents, teachers and kids. With Kaiser at the helm and fresh financing announced, the company should make great strides in the years to come. Galaxy Online trades on the Canadian Dealing Network as GOLI.
