| Perhaps it's a play
on the idea that they are the "tip of the
iceberg" that inspired the people behind this
company to call themselves Iceberg Media.com. Whatever
the rationale, the name seems appropriate. Originally known as Cable Copper Mines, the company changed its name to Iceberg and acquired 100% of Virtually Canadian Broadcast Network at the same time, in late August. The company first started trading as Iceberg on August 25, 1999. Virtually Canadian is one of Canada's new media. It has been an Internet only broadcaster since 1997. Packed with streaming audio and video, the site has produced over 55 live event broadcasts in the last two years and broadcast Melanie C's concert live in Toronto on Oct. 4, 1999. (You may remember her as Sporty Spice.) The award winning site includes live Internet radio broadcasts (2Kool4Radio.com and 1GroovE.com), and its Prime Ticket site featuring live concerts. It recently added its urban funk network - Illnoiz.com. All of its various networks are easily accessible from its portal site - the Iceberg.com. The company has many notable firsts to its credit, including being the first Internet broadcaster to have 7 day a week, 24 hour a day hosted original content. It was also the first Canadian company to broadcast an annual general meeting - for Barrick Gold. Iceberg Media.com trades on the Canadian Dealing Network as ICBM. Hmm! A rocket, perhaps?
