One of Canada's leading specialty fashion retailers, Suzy Shier operates over 450 stores under a variety of brands The flagship brand, of course, is Suzy Shier, but the company also operates L.A. Express and anne-x - all offering fashionable clothing for women. Lingerie and sleepwear are offered at the company's trendy La Senza and Silk & Satin stores.

One of the market's hottest segments are girls age 7-14, who have more disposable income than ever before. Suzy Shier recognized this market with the successful launch of its La Senza Girl stores in 1999. The 25 current stores have been such a hit that the company announced plans on April 18, 2001 to more than double the number of stores to 60 by year's end.

Although the Montreal-based company operates primarily in Canada, there are around fifty La Senza stores operating in Britain under license. Interestingly enough, the company has moved into the Middle East with licensing agreements for over 25 La Senza stores in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.

In October 2000, the La Senza subsidiary joined the Yahoo Canada Shopping network, solidifying its online presence. Over 40% of its online members are from the United States.

Suzy Shier also owns 21.7% of the voting shares of U.S. fashion retailer The Wet Seal which operates over 450 stores across the U.S.

In January Suzy Shier announced the planned buyback of 10% of its shares by Jan. 21, 2002. Earnings for the quarter to Feb. 3, 2001 more than doubled. The company is making more than just a fashion statement. It's making a solid profit statement as well!

Note: All of the company's websites linked in the box above are fashion sites and contain little corporate or investor information.
