Tiberon Minerals Ltd.

Calgary, Alberta's Tiberon Minerals used to be involved in exploration in the Yukon territory. But in late 1997, it embarked on a new venture that is now its primary focus.

That venture? Mineral exploration in Vietnam. The company owns a 70% interest in a 32.2 square kilometer exploration license in the Nui Phao region of north-eastern Vietnam, in a geological area known as the South China Plate.

This plate extends across south-eastern China and is home to numerous proven economically recoverable deposits worth over $20 billion. 75% of the world's tungsten is produced in China, most of it from the South China Plate.

Mineral exploration in Vietnam was virtually non-existent until 1996 when the country opened its borders to foreign investment.

Tiberon originally went looking for gold in Nui Phao, which it found. But subsequent tests confirmed that the region also shows promise in copper, bismuth and, you guessed it - tungsten.

The Vietnamese find has a number of advantages that make commercialization likely. These include an established infrastructure and the mineralization being high grade and close to the surface.

The company commenced a drilling operation in September 2000 to test the grade, thickness and continuity of the ore zone.
