A note from Päivi:

I have been a Guide for About.com (The Mining Company) since February, 1997. My site focused on Weaving & Spinning and the textile arts. For a short period in 1998, my website was split. Rosemary Brock took over the Handspinning and I continued with the Weaving aspects of the website. After Rosemary left About.com, the Spinning subject was returned to me. You can still find Rosemary on the net at her new website at: http://www.textilelinks.com.

During my tenure at About.com, I maintained the Weaving & Spinning site, writing weekly articles, researching for links and resources and helping viewers find the information they were looking for on the net. I ran an active Discussion Forum and weekly Chat sessions with weavers and spinners visiting throughout the world.

I have now moved all of my past articles, links and other resources to a new home at: http://www.allfiberarts.com

I will continue to concentrate on weaving and spinning but will also expand the website to include other textile and fibre arts. You will be able to find free patterns for weaving, knitting, crochet, lacemaking, rug making, and other crafts. There are lots of dye recipes using both natural and synthetic dyes. Visitors will be able to find information on teachers and instructors, guilds, yarn shops, conferences, cultural and textile tours and other interesting places to visit. A weekly Newsletter is sent out to subscribers to keep them informed about the latest happenings in the world of textile arts.

I also maintain a personal website: http://www.paivatar.com where I sell my handwoven items, handspun yarns and other yarns for knitters and weavers.
